Anyone with a smart phone knows that one of the more addictive features is the fact that you can use it to keep any meeting or commute from getting too boring by turning your practical media device into a portable video game system. Of course, it always pays to know what games are best so that you can try the good stuff without wasting time on things you’re going to regret wasting the cash or space to download.
First there are games that you might remember from your old Nintendo days. It’s become quite a statement that games which once took a whole, clunky video game system with big cartridges can now fit in your back pocket by the dozen. If you’re looking to re-live some of your older gaming days there are games like the infamous Bubble Bobble you can download for a couple bucks, or the ever popular Nintendo classic Tetris to keep you interested when the train ride is letting you down. If you are, or ever were, a hardcore platforming gamer then you might want to look into the classic Mario games, or you could check out newer releases like Dynamo Kid, which has all of the platforming but a distinctive anime feel to it that adds a layer of cute you might be missing.Other new games run the gamut from strange to stupid, but there appear to be a few real gems in the pile. Shoot to Kill is a top-down view shooter (when was the last time you saw one of those?) where you play a faceless, nameless soldier trapped in hell that has to shoot his way out. It’s a few bucks to download, but tapping enemies and blowing them into bloody gobbets is always fun. But not all best games are new, as Carney Vale (a puzzle game where you have to get your circus athlete to swing, jump and tumble through to the end of an obstacle course) and the even addicting Angry Birds have gotten and remained quite popular.
